Michigan Citizens Against Unrestricted Science and Experimentation Responds to MichiganCure Campaign

"This proposal is deliberately deceptive. Lawyers and politicians intentionally drafted this language to mislead the voters. This proposal will allow unregulated and unrestricted experimentation on human embryos.

This proposal does not ban human cloning in the State Constitution. The proposal states that nothing shall be interpreted to alter or abrogate the current law banning cloning. However, bills have already been introduced in the Michigan legislature to allow for human cloning. This proposal will permit the legalization of cloning.

Voters should not be deceived by this proposal. It will allow for unregulated, unrestricted experimentation on human embryos.

This proposal would allow researchers to ignore any law that would prevent, restrict or regulate the destruction of human embryos.

Human embryonic stem cell research is already legal in Michigan and has been conducted in Michigan for years. It continues today at the University of Michigan Center for Human Embryo Stem Cell Research and other Michigan universities. This proposal will allow for unregulated and unrestricted research."

If it means saving my daughter then I'm for it. You obviously don't have a child that's terminal.

Stem cell research may help three members of my family, not to mention the millions of people who are living with or dying from incurable medical problems. I only wish we could find out who's behind these fancy named organizations that hide from the public. They should be jumping up and down and proud to be known if they are so committed to their cause.

I currently have muscular dystrophy and so does my sister and stem cell research is one of the most promising things to come around in a long time, if we don't step up and use this technology then other countries will and we will be left behind when it comes to new discoveries and innovations. We need new technologies to help create new jobs and more money for this state. It will also help find cures for illnesses like mine and many others. This groups ads are either misleading or all out lies I want to know who is behind this, they have lots of money, because I see their ads all the time and they make me sick.

There are so many whoppers in here I don't know where to
start. Read the actual ballot language. This proposal will not allow cloning. That's just one of the many lies being told by Mr. Doyle. The provisions limiting experimentation are right in the language of the bill. Educate yourselves!

MCAUS is nothing more than a bunch of religious cretans who will stop at nothing in an attempt to control every aspect of your lives. They do not know science. They are HIDING their bible thumping ignoance by claiming it is a taxpayer issue in an attempt to fool people into rejecting this proposal. These people are they embodiment of true ignorance and the Christian equivalent of the Islamic fundamentalists. They are liars plain and simple. Vote yes in the name of humanity.
