Reaxys Training - Wednesday, October 7th from 2-3 p.m. in the Main Library Beaumont Instruction Room (across from the circulation desk) Note - Dr. Smith will be available after the training session for additional questions.
As we now have access to the Beilstein/Gmelin/Patents database via Reaxys (in addition to Crossfire access),a Reaxys training session has been scheduled to be given by Dr. Lee Smith.
Dr. Lee Smith has developed training materials and personally delivered training programs to both Corporate and Academic researchers on the effective use of structure-searchable chemistry databases, including the Crossfire suite of databases, since 1998. Lee received his PhD from Brandeis University in 1996 after completing undergraduate work at the California State University.

MSU Libraries now offers access to Beilstein/Gmelin/Patents via Reaxys, a new platform for Beilstein/Gmelin:
Reaxys (1771+) is a database of chemical compound properties, structures, and reactions with references to the journal and patent literature of chemistry. The data originates from the Gmelin Handbook of Inorganic Chemistry, the Beilstein Handbuch der Organischen Chemie and a Patent Chemistry database. Has flexible and powerful searching by substance, property and/or reaction. Substance searching includes exact structure, substructure, CAS number, molecular formula, name, and many more choices.
See http://www.info.reaxys.com/event to register for one of the weekly webinars to learn more about Reaxys and how it enhances the exploration of chemical substance information.
You may still access Beilstein by downloading and installing the Crossfire software. You will need the information below to use Crossfire:
