Access to Elsevier journals from their Biochemistry, Genetics, and Molecular Biology collection on Science Direct is now available to MSU electronically going back to volume 1. (Previously we only had access going back to 1995). For a list of journals in that collection see http://info.sciencedirect.com/techsupport/journals/bfbiogenmol.htm. You will also see the new date ranges of issues available when you look up these journals on the Libraries' electronic journals A-Z list.
