There are a number of time-saving techniques available to faculty and graduate students to assist in their efforts to monitor research trends in a given field.

The PubMed interface has a new look! The National Library of Medicine at the National Institutes of Health, has been working on the PubMed redesign for a while now and recently released the new interface. The new look is now the default search.

There are seven pages of errata for the first printing of the new APA Publication Manual (6th Edition). These errors are detailed online http://supp.apa.org/style/pubman-reprint-corrections-for-2e.pdf. The second printing, which has been corrected, is just now coming out, so if you already own the title, you own the error-rich first printing. If you haven't gotten a copy yet, check before you buy. If you own the first printing of the 6th edition, you may want to print off the corrections linked to above and place them in your APA Manual.

Few of the errors are in the text, most are in the examples. Most of the errors are in the format of the sample papers and in the examples of reference format. Because the textual instructions are correct, APA will not replace the first printing with the corrected second printing. Several librarians have pointed out to them that the examples are very heavily used, but so far they are standing firm that this is not a problem. They have expressly refused to allow early purchasers to "trade-in" early copies for a later printing.
