Smithsonian Latino Virtual Museum

The Smithsonian Latino Center launched the Smithsonian Latino Virtual Museum (LVM) on March 19, 2009. The LVM is an avatar-based 3D virtual learning environment that “provides access to the vast and rich collections, research and scholarship, exhibitions and educational activities of the Smithsonian Institution as they relate to U.S. Latinos and Latin America.” Once creating an avatar, visitors to the virtual museum site can view exhibitions using Second Life, a 3D virtual world environment. Participation is free.
