Michigan Supreme Court Justice Robert Young Jr. will be retiring from the Michigan Supreme Court effective April 30, and returning to his previous employer, the law firm Dickinson Wright, the court announced this morning.

A childless Detroit couple adopted a baby born by a female friend whom they had inseminated with the husband's sperm. The adoption was the nation's first of a child born to a surrogate mother.

The Michigan House passed a Women's Suffrage Resolution. Voters will be allowed to vote on it in next general election.

Due to growth of population and industry, Detroit's manufacturers are facing problems of getting delivery of goods by train. Some companies are rebuilding factories elsewhere. A central railroad terminal might help solve the problem.
