The state plans to close Ojibway Correctional Facility in Gogebic County this December, the Michigan Department of Corrections (DOC) announced today.

The budget signed into law for Fiscal Year (FY) 2019 called for a mid-year prison closure to be determined by the DOC, as prison population numbers continue to decline across the state.
