U.S. District Judge Gershwin Drain today permanently enjoined Michigan from eliminating straight-ticket voting, meaning straight-ticket voting will again be an option for Michigan voters this November.
Drain said eliminating it would lengthen long lines and increase wait times for all voters and discriminate against African-American voters, as they vote a straight-ticket at higher rates than other demographics and frequently vote for Democratic candidates.
