HISPANIC COMMISSION SEES CHANGES: The Commission on Spanish Speaking Affairs has been renamed to the Hispanic Latino Commission of Michigan. The commission will still be under the Department of Energy, Labor and Economic Growth, but will now meet six times a year instead of monthly. It has also changed the rule about who can serve as a commissioner, no longer limiting service on the commission only to those of Hispanic origin.
The compact shelving is complete, books and computers are clean, the carpet is clean, and furniture is out. However, we still will be moving furniture. You are able to go into the stacks now. New carpet should be installed this week. It looks like it will be installed Thursday, July 29 barring any unforeseen circumstances. There could be fumes and some noise associated with this. We're continuing to move and vacuum books. Books still must be paged by requesting them from the front desk.
