EAST LANSING, Mich., Dec. 2022 – The University Archives & Historical Collections at Michigan State University is thrilled to announce the publication of “Tales from the Archives, Volume 2: Sacred Spaces.” This second volume of rich and little-known campus lore comes on the heels of the initial “Tales from the Archives, Volume 1: Campus and Traditions,” published in 2017. Both are compiled by the staff and students of the University Archives.

Mosaic exhibit borne from Tree of Life Synagogue shooting comes to MSU Libraries

EAST LANSING, Mich., Nov. 2022 – This month the Michigan State University Libraries will be hosting a traveling exhibit that showcases a mosaics project created as an artistic response to the deadly shooting at the Tree of Life Synagogue building in Pittsburgh on Oct. 27, 2018.

Terri Miller recommended as interim dean of MSU Libraries

Michigan State University Provost Teresa K. Woodruff, Ph.D., is recommending Terri Miller, associate dean for teaching, learning and research engagement in MSU Libraries, for the position of interim dean of MSU Libraries. Pending approval by the MSU Board of Trustees, her appointment will be effective July 1.


Miller will replace Joseph Salem Jr., current dean of MSU Libraries and interim associate provost for teaching, learning and innovation. Salem has accepted a position at Duke University as the Rita DiGiallonardo Holloway University Librarian and vice provost for library affairs...

MSU Libraries Award $28,500 to MSU Faculty to Help Instructors Reduce Costs for Students

MSU Libraries Open Educational Resources (OER) Advisory Committee has awarded a third round of grants totaling $28,500 to nine MSU faculty. The announcement was made by Dean of Libraries and Interim Associate Provost for Teaching and Learning Innovation Joseph A. Salem, Jr., who said the awards are designed to support the goals of the OER program, which aims to help instructors reduce costs for students, improve access to required texts, and increase student success.
