Tyler Smeltekop is the Course Materials Program Manager at MSU Libraries, and he has worked for the library for eight years.

Smeltekop supervises a super squad of library employees who work with faculty to provide access to necessary content for their courses, as inexpensively and conveniently as possible for students. He advises faculty and librarians on copyright issues in the classroom and manages several different operational models that we use to mediate course content.

In his role, he has the opportunity to learn about all sorts of disciplines and fields of study on campus.

“It’s great to be able to see the innovative ways faculty are using library resources to create effective pedagogy for their students,” said Smeltekop. “There is such a wide range of expertise and interests represented by the many librarians and staffers here, so it’s always a pleasure to get to know other folks I work with.”

Smeltekop is part of the Support Staff Advisory Group (SSAG) and the Library Accessibility Working Group (LAWG) at MSU Libraries. He is also on the Accommodating Technology Committee (ATC) for the university, reporting to the Chief Information Officer and Provost.
