High school students will now be able to use their internship and work experience toward graduation credits under legislation signed today by Lt. Gov. Brian Calley. “This legislation will allow Michigan high schoolers the opportunity to gain realworld work experience while working toward their high school graduation requirements,” Calley said.

House Bills 4106 and 5676, sponsored by state Reps. Beau LaFave and Brandt Iden, respectively, would require the boards of school districts and public school academies to grant high school credit under certain circumstances to students in grades 912 who complete an internship or work experience. The bills are now Public Acts 184 and 185 of 2018.
