The Senate unanimously approved today a bill to allow Michigan retailers to ship wine directly to consumers.

A similar legislative approach was taken to court 10 years ago and was ruled by a federal judge to be in violation of the U.S. Commerce Clause because it discriminated against out-of-state retailers, but this proposal contains some tweaks stakeholders hope will pass muster.
